Commission approved the sale of Austrian Airlines to Lufthansa

The European Commission gave its approval to the restructuring plans of Austrian Airlines, which effectively gave the green light to the merger of the airline with Lufthansa.

According to the commission price to pay Lufthansa can be regarded as state aid, but the measure is in line with the Community support framework and restructuring of companies who get into financial crisis.

According to the approved privatization procedure Lufthansa will buy government stake in Austrian Airlines, which accounts for 41.56% of the capital of the company.

Shares of other shareholders of the Austrian company will be bought by Lufthansa
