Specific trade standards will remain running for 10 products, which account for 75 percent of the value of EU trade: apples, citrus fruit, kiwi fruit, lettuces, peaches and nectarines, pears, strawberries, sweet peppers, table grapes and tomatoes. Member States may, however, exempt them from the standards if the products are sold in stores with the appropriate label. In practice this means that non-standard apple may still be offered for sale in the shop, come to bear the label „products intended for processing.
