French Jobless Rate Falls

The number of people seeking work in France fell for the second straight month in July. It was the first time that has happened since 2007.
The total was down by 0.5 percent from June, with the number falling by 14,400.  Year-on-year there was a 5.4 percent rise in jobseekers as France’s economy emerges slowly from recession.
French Economy Minister Christine Lagarde called it “an indication of stabilisation in unemployment.” She added that the second consecutive month with a decline in the number of jobseekers is “a strong sign.”
