French Unemployment in October, a two percent Rise on September

French unemployment has lurched further into the red with more than 57,000 people joining the dole queues in October, a two percent rise on September. It’s the strongest rise since April, and brings the total to 2 million, six hundred and twenty seven thousand.
The yearly rise is now 25 percent, but the economy minister, while recognising the figures were not good, insisted the country was moving out of recession although the recovery was fragile and the economy was still in crisis with jobs still being destroyed.
Further increases in unemployment are expected for the rest of the year and into next. Growth next year is forecast at only three quarters of a percent.
