In Bulgaria there are 3.767 million homes at the end of 2008

In 2008 housing stock in the country consists of 2.134 million building, which is 0.1 percent more than in 2007, suggest to the National Statistics Institute (NSI) published today. In Bulgaria registered 3.767 million homes, of which 63.5% are located in cities.
At December 31, 2008 reinforced concrete buildings in the country is 103 thousand to 1.217 million homes in them, brick buildings were 1.578 million to 2.097 million homes and 453 thousand homes are located in 452 buildings with thousands of other construction.
Nearly half (48.8 percent) of housing in the cities are in reinforced concrete buildings, 47.5 percent are in brick and 3.7 percent – in others. In villages, 69.8 percent of the dwellings are brick buildings, 26.5 percent in the other and only 3.7% in reinforced concrete.
Most of the dwellings are two and three bedrooms – they are 65.3 percent of all housing in the country, followed by housing with four or more bedrooms – 23 percent and 11.7 percent are single. The average number of rooms in a dwelling in rural areas is 3.2 and in the cities – 2.6.
Supply of dwellings per 1000 people in rural areas increased by 1.8 percent over the previous year, while in cities – by 0.7%.
Most dwellings per 1000 population by the end of last year were recorded in Pernik – 718 Sofia – 707, Vidin – 640 Lovech – Gabrovo and 630 – 614.
The highest average number of persons to a dwelling is taken into account in urban development (2.6), Plovdiv (2.5), Pazardjik (2.4), Sofia-capital (2.4) and in villages in Blagoevgrad and Razgrad – 2.3 and 2.2 respectively.
In 2008 the total area of housing is 240.706 million square meters, or 0.7 percent more than in previous years, the increase in cities is greater (0.9%) and in the villages is 0, 2%.
Most useful area per capita in the region registered e Pernik – 42.9 sq. meters, followed by Vidin – 42.4 sq.m, Sofia – 41.4 sq. m, Lovech – 39.9 sq.m. Montana m – 38.2 sq. m.

Reinforced concrete buildings are those bearing skeleton structures and floors are made of reinforced concrete and the walls are panels, brick or other masonry materials. Massive buildings are those with bearing walls of brick and stone masonry, and clarify the beams and floor structure are made of reinforced concrete, but not reinforced concrete columns. Massive buildings belong to those who only floor elements are prefabricated. The group „other buildings“ includes built of stone, cob (raw brick), wood and other materials.
