In Poland will sue chemical castration of pedophiles

The lower house of Polish Parliament today approved a bill for compulsory chemical castration of perpetrators of rape when the victims are children under 15 years or close relatives, officials said.

The measure received unanimous support from lawmakers. It was proposed by the government after a series of cases in which fathers are sexually abused his daughters.
Under the new law the maximum term of imprisonment for rape of persons under 15 years of age increased from 12 to 15 years. Perpetrators of such crimes will be required to take drugs to suppress their sex drive – a practice known as chemical castration. When it comes to rape of children aged between 15 and 18 years, the court will decide whether the offender to undergo chemical castration, said Thursday.
The measure will apply to those who have raped their relatives. The bill is not specified what exactly is meant by „close relatives“ or specify to what age should a victim to be able to take chemical castration of perpetrators.
So far in Poland there was a procedure of chemical castration, but it was done voluntarily. The new legislation must be approved by the upper house of parliament and then by President Lech Kaczynski, said Thursday.
