Mixed UK Jobs News

The number of Britons claiming unemployment benefit fell by much less than expected last month.
It was down by just 3,800 economists had forecast a drop of around 16,500.
However, between April and June the number of people in work jumped by 184,000, that was the biggest rise since 1989.
The UK jobless rate is now 7.8 percent of the active population, down from eight percent.
The figures suggest the labour market is continuing to recover steadily, although the pace of improvement is unlikely to be maintained as government spending cuts kick in.
They are expected to result in more than half a million public sector job cuts.
