Revenue from tourism in Greece are fell by 24.2 percent

Revenue from tourism in Greece are fell from 24.2 percent in May this year compared with same month of 2008, show statistics of the Greek Institute for Studies and Forecasting in Tourism, cited by Elefterotipiya century.
For the first five months of this year the decline in tourism was 17.9 per cent.
Reduction of revenue in this sector is considered to be most unfavorable for the country compared with its competitors in the industry Portugal, Spain and Cyprus, where the decline was 12.4 percent, 11.7 percent and 11.7 percent.
It is believed that the decrease in tourism revenues due to lower prices in hotels, a short stay of foreign tourists in the country and late payments.
