Spanish Jobless over Four Million

Spain’s unemployment total rose above four million in September.
Just over 48,000 people were laid off last month as workers left jobs after the summer tourist season.
The Labour Ministry said the number of registered jobless rose by one point two percent – with the service sector worst affected.
However, the number laid off was down from the more than 80,000 in the same month a year ago.
Spanish unemployment was the highest in the euro zone at over 20 percent in the second quarter.
Economists worry that the recovery there is so fragile that Spain’s economy could slip back into recession at the end of this year.
