UK Jobless Total Still Rising

Britain’s jobless rate has hit its highest in 13 years, at just under eight percent of the working population.
The National Statistics Office said the number of people out of work rose by 210,000 to 2.47 million in the second quarter of the year.
And while there were signs the pace of layoffs may be slowing, analysts believe the totals could rise for some time yet, probably hitting three million next year.
The figures for young people are particularly bad, nearly one in five 16 to 24-year-olds are without a job.
