Commission granted 3.25 million for information projects for agriculture

European Commission proclaimed yesterday that granted 3.25 million euros for information projects related to the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.

The funds will go towards the funding of IT projects presented by government entities, agricultural, consumer and acting on environmental protection organizations from all European Union countries.

The project can range from 20 to 200 thousand euro, as the financial share of the European Commission will be 50 percent of their assessment, but in exceptional cases – 75 per cent.

Special priority is given to projects which enhance public awareness on the CAP for the benefit of its implementation, the need for closer market orientation of agricultural activity and more effective use of direct aid to farmers.

Presented projects should also focus on the need for farmers in the European Union to address the challenges associated with climate change, water management, use of renewable energy, conservation of biodiversity.

The deadline for submission of projects for the European Commission is December 31, 2009
