Leading economic indicators increased

The index reflecting the outlook for the U.S. economy rose for the third month in succession, suggesting that the recession is coming to a close.

The index, which measures the outlook for the U.S. economy, increased for the third consecutive months in June, suggesting that the recession is drawing to a close, reported by a private research company on Monday.
The index of leading economic indicators, which should predict economic trends six to nine months ahead, increased by 0.7 percent in June after this growth of 1.3 percent in May.
By Wall Street economists had forecast growth of 0.5% after the initial increase of 1.2 percent in May.
In the first half of the year the index has increased by 4.1 percent on an annual basis. „Slow pace of recession in early spring, although still significant reduction of jobs,“ economist Ken Goldstein announced in a statement. „However, confidence is slowly recovered.
„If these trends continue, expect a slow recovery this fall,“ he added.
