UK Inflation Climbs Higher than Expected

Consumer prices in Britain rose 0.6 per cent last month, taking the annual rate up to 2.9 per cent from 1.9 percent in November.
That marks the biggest monthly rise in the yearly rate since records began.
The Bank of England may well start tightening monetary policy to check the rapid rise in inflation.
