Courier companies still waiting for Bulgarian Post invitation
Leading courier companies refrain from commenting the idea for a strategic partnership with Bulgarian Posts, a Pari daily’s inquiry shows. Two weeks ago minister of transport Alexandar Tsvetkov said Bulgarian Posts will be split into five subsidiaries and the state will keep the majority share of 51%. A private investor will be sought for the rest 49%. The aim is to get fresh capital.
Some BGN 40 million is expected to be poured by the private investors into the new companies, the minister commented. He said the investors will not own assets in the new firms but will participate in the dividend distribution. At the beginning three subsidiaries will be split: Hybrid Post will deliver big parcels of companies, Bul Post will develop courier services and Info Post will offer electronic services to individuals and businesses.
So far we have not received an official invitation from Bulgarian Posts to participate in the joint Bul Post but we will give it a serious thought in case we are invited, the Bulgarian branch manager of the Dutch TNT said.
DHL said they have already been working together with Bulgarian Posts and will discuss the idea to invest in the new subsidiary. In Time, the Bulgarian partner of the American logistic giant UPS, was the only one to definitely decline such an option. According to manager Zheni Belopitova the two companies are interested in different areas of the business.
