89 banks closed in the U.S. for 2009-a
Until now, the beginning of the year in the United States were closed total of 89 commercial banks, the Itar-Tass, citing the U.S. Federal Communication Corporation for deposit insurance. In comparison, in 2008, ceased operations only 25 banks in the U.S. in 2007 – only 3 banks.
On Friday, 5 medium and small banks were closed in the U.S. states, Iowa, Arizona, Illinois and Missouri. Their bankruptcy would cost the Federal corporation total of 401 million dollars.
In the U.S. state guarantees full payment of a deposit not exceeding the sum of 250 thousand dollars, recalls ITAR-TASS. Experts predict many banks will not live to see the end of 2009 in the U.S. and will shut down. For others, the only salvation will be merged.
