Bulgaria received EUR 517 million, which increased international monetary reserves of the Bank

Bulgaria has received 474 586 534 million special drawing rights (SDRs) of IMF about 517 m /, which increased international monetary reserves of the Bulgarian National Bank, announced the presofisa National Bank.

At a meeting of state and government of the G-20 held on April 2, 2009, as part of measures to overcome the effects of global financial and economic crisis, it was decided for allocation in the amount of SDR 250 billion . U.S. dollars between the countries – members of the IMF, the Bank of recall. This entitles each of the countries – members of the IMF SDRs to acquire up to 75 percent of their quota in the IMF.
In accordance with this decision on August 7, 2009 with a majority of 85 percent of the votes of the parties – States in the IMF Board of Governors of the IMF approved a resolution on the total allocation of SDRs, indicated by the BNB. The manager of the Bank in its capacity as manager of Bulgaria’s IMF quota, has voted in favor of the resolution, expressing the joint position of the government and central bank.
On September 9, 2009 will be allocated by the IMF still SDR 136.3 million in special one-time allocation of SDRs in 1997, which was recently ratified by all member countries, nominated by the Central Bank.
