CPC okays deal between Spectrum Net, Orbitel

The Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) allowed Spectrum Net to acquire telecom start-up Orbitel. The deal will not create market monopoly, the anti-trust body said. The two companies operate in one and the same field of business: they provide fixed-line telephony, internet access, data and voice over internet protocol. According to the CPC the acquisition will increase competition on the market of fixed-line services and internet, where Vivacom remains a leader despite the taken liberalisation measures. Currently the operator holds 96.1% of fixed-line services. The price of the acquisition, which was announced in November, is EUR 5 million.
