Emergency measures may have detrimental consequences

„‘Rescue measures“, which some consider to protect its industrial sector since the crisis may be legitimate, but they do not become less harmful, warned today the World Trade Organization (WTO), quoted by France Press. „Member States have the indisputable right to take precautionary measures to meet the WTO rules,“ admits the organization in its annual report on world trade, which was published today. „Under normal conditions these measures as a whole would be considered extraordinary and rarely would be applied. The period of global crisis, however, spread among the trading partners would have adverse economic consequences and in fact none of the compensating effects, aimed as a motive for these measures „mentioned in the report of the WTO. „Protectionism can certainly lead to exacerbation and prolongation of the crisis, experts say categorically WTO. WTO rules to allow in certain circumstances „rescue measures such as import restrictions, to avoid balance of payments crisis, increased tariffs on certain imported products in order to protect an industry in itself of its generation, or measures to protect local production against imports at prices that are too low. Faced with economic crisis, more and more countries have resorted to such „legal“ methods to protect its market, noted with regret in the annual report of the WTO.
