Ewronews: Reykjavik IMF wants to rest

In Iceland the main banks – Glitnir, Landsbanki and Kaupthing – is to destroy one weeks last October, which cost more than 40 billion euros of foreign lenders.

Restructuring the banking sector and payments to creditors is considered as the key to reviving the Icelandic economy which is in deep recession.

Reykjavik also wants to rest the International Monetary Fund and other foreign creditors who are granted seven billion euros for the economic reconstruction of the volcanic island.

Icelandic parliament will soon vote on whether to compensate the UK and the Netherlands of the billions owed to saver with Icelandic accounts.
