Furniture industry shrank by nearly half

Manufacturers of furniture in our country have registered a 40% reduction in their production this year. A significant decrease is recorded in the export of Bulgarian furniture and products darvoobratovaneto. This became clear on October 14, 2009 during the opening of the exhibition „World of Furniture and SIHRE in Inter Expo Center.

Crisis are felt first employed in the woodworking industry. There at the end of last summer it was reported a sharp reduction of wood construction. Consequently, when many companies in the industry are experiencing serious difficulties. They are particularly evident in the companies in small towns. This was announced by the President of the Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry (BCWFI) Kalin Simeonov.
Current situation in the two sectors is different. While in the processing industry began to feel a kind of „renaissance“ of the number of orders made, the situation is far different in the manufacture of furniture. There is a crisis in its prime, the lowest point has not been reached yet and we do not know when it will begin revitalization.
As evidence of the plight of the industry were outlined the following figures: At present the Branch Chamber members about 4 thousand companies. Of these around 950 are active, some 240 are in the process of liquidation.
A major problem for manufacturers of furniture is the largest imports from other countries. In this regard, Simeonov said that a significant proportion of these imports are unregulated, and for him not paid excise taxes and duties. He added that if the dealer does not insist that it be an invoice for the purchased furniture, then this is not done and the 20 percent VAT paid to the office will not be returned.
By the Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry asked the government to take several measures to promote the furniture market. One is the procurement of furniture for public institutions and public buildings. The other is related to the filling of the State Reserve of furniture – a measure that has been requested from the previous government, but has not been completed.
