Le Monde: Alas, Barroso again!

If you trust the forecasts, Jose Barroso must now be elected for a second term at the head of the European Commission, wrote the French newspaper Le Monde in an editorial comment entitled „Alas, Barroso again!“

The only candidate in this race challenge today is to gather as many votes in his support among the three main political families in EP – Conservatives from the European People’s Party (EPP), from whose ranks came Barroso himself, Liberal Democrats and the Socialists, who are divided into two on the issue of his reelection, supplement edition, quoted by BTA.
Barroso received the support of the 27 EU leaders for a second term at the head of the European Commission back in June. His re-election, however, proved difficult despite the victory of the EPP in the European elections in early June and despite the fact that most European governments are now in the hands of the right wing. Barroso re-election turned straight into battle. His critics have used that the new Parliament had just done and that still is not certain whether the Lisbon Treaty will enter into force, and urged to slow down as much as possible the sentence is passed on re-election Barroso, notes the newspaper Le Monde.
This difficult battle for re-election, however, due to the personality itself Barroso, known by the nicknames Chameleon. A review of his first term at the head of the EU is quite modest. Barroso failed to make Europe’s voice to be heard on the international scene at a time of economic crisis. His critics accuse him do that has reduced the staff of the EC and so has become something of a Committee Secretariat of the more powerful member states, said the publication.
